When we
refer to 'cup and saucer' the term implies 'tea cup and
saucer'. The smaller 'demitasse cup and saucer' has become
'coffee cup and saucer' in today's terminology, so we use 'coffee
cup and saucer' for both names as they are the same.
A five
piece place setting contains a dinner plate, salad plate, bread and
butter plate with cup and saucer. Some patterns do not have a bread and
butter plate and include an all purpose bowl to complete the five
pieces. A few casual patterns only have mugs instead of the cup and
saucer. We note anytime that the pattern deviates from the norm.
